21 March 2007 - World Cheese Award 2007 win! Futura Foods’ Riserva Grana Padano has scooped Silver at the World Cheese Awards held at Olympia on 14th March.
Produced by Zarpellon S. p. A. since 1972, using milk that is subjected to stringent quality inspections and using traditional methods. The Company creates 85.000 P.D.O. Grana Padano wheels per year in its dairy of Camisano Vicentino (Vicenza), in the north-eastern part of Italy. Their excellent production process has obtained UNI EN ISO 9001: 2000 “Vision 2000” certification and HACCP certification plus BRC and IFS certifications.
The Grana Padano DOP (Protected Denomination of Origin) can be branded “Riserva” only after having reached at least 20 month maturation and only if certain quality aspects are respected, including its grainy, crumbly paste with its characteristic inner breaking and a homogeneous white to straw-yellow colour, the absence of anomalous odours and a typical fresh, fruity, sweet taste.
The “Riserva“ category can only be granted by the Grana Padano Consortium experts through severe quality checks and a further branding. This multi-award winning cheese was voted best tasting by the consortium of Grana Padano in January 2006.
Grana Padano is a versatile cheese that can be grated, sliced, or melted and is ideal to use in most typical Italian cuisine dishes.
